David is a student from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He is working with Dr. Li on the project of RVASL Dataset and ASL Interpretation started from summer, 2023.

• Iqra Kahn (Email: iqra.khan@mail.citytech.cuny.edu)

Iqra is an undergraduate student at the CET Department at City Tech. She started in Fall 2022 to work on the project of “Hetereomorphism Robotics”, which aims to develop the second generation of the transformer robot City Prime. She received CUNY’s CRSP Scholarship and is on Dean’s list every semester.

Joel is a senior student in the Computer Eningeering Technology Department at City Tech. He has been working on the Smart Sprinkler project since he was taking the IoT course (CET4925) with Dr. Li in Spring, 2023. Joel also works on the project of “Low-cost Panorama Camera for Live Sports Game Analysis”. He received JLM RISE Summer Research Program scholarship in Summer 2023.

Laila was a summer research intern from a high school in Long Island, NY. She was working on RVASL Dataset project since the summer of 2023.

Former Student Members

• Jakob Horowitz (Email: horowitzjakob@gmail.com)

Jakob worked with Dr. Li since his late sophomore year. He worked on the project of “Hand Gesture Recognition and ASL Translation by using DeepLens”. His project was selected by City Tech to be presented in 2021 CUNY Research Scholars Program (CRSP) Symposium. Jakob was on Dean’s list every semester and graduated with the honor of “Excellence in Academic & Research Performances”.

• Fahmeda Khanom (Email: fahmedakhanom@mail.citytech.cuny.edu)

Fahmeda was a student in the Computer Eningeering Technology Department at City Tech. She worked with Dr. Li since her junior year on the project of Smart Iot Car Seat for Preventing Hot Car Death. Fahmeda received CUNY’s CRSP scholarship and City Tech ESP scholarship multiple times.

• Touheda Khanom (Email: touheda.khanom@mail.citytech.cuny.edu)

Touheda was a student in the Computer Eningeering Technology Department at City Tech. She worked with Dr. Li  on the project of Smart Iot Car Seat for Preventing Hot Car Death of Childs. Fahmeda was supported by City Tech’s Emerging Scholars Program and CUNY’s CRSP program.

• Jane Lynnel Ladaban   (Email: janelynnelladaban@yahoo.com)

Jane Lynnel Ladaban was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. She has been in Dr. Li’s research team since June 2017. She first worked on the Coordination of UAVs Project, and later shifted to Wearable Vision project. Jane interned in the Tech Operations Center at UBS in Summer 2018. • Jacky Yuan  (Email: jyuan@citytech.cuny.edu)

Jacky Yuan was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He has been working on the Wearable Vision for Assistive Translation project with Dr. Li. Currently he is an embedded software engineer in a hardware startup in Brooklyn, NY.

Gene Nadela was a senior student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He successfully finished the Hetereomorphism Robotics Project with Dr. Li (YouTube video URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Mx4f-Z-WA&t=34s). Gene also worked on the project of Smart Medicine Bottle for assistive living. Gene was on Dean’s list for several semesters and a student member of City Tech Emerging Scholar Program. Now Gene works as a Device Engineer at Intelligent Artifacts, Inc. in NY.

David was a senior student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He mainly works in computer vision/IoT projects. He worked on the SMART Medicine Bottle project with Dr. Li.

Terrence was a senior student majored in Computer Engineering Technology. He mainly worked with Gene and David on the project of SMART Medicine Bottle.

• Galib F. Rahman   (Email: rahman.galib100@gmail.com)

Galib F. Rahman was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He worked on the Smart Sprinkler project with Dr. Li, by which he was a recipient of the CUNY Research Scholars Program (CRSP) scholarship. Leonardo  was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He worked on the projects of Embedded Video Looper and UAVs. He was also a Perkins peer student leader.

Shuhua was a student majored in Computer Science at Queens College of CUNY. Shuhua worked on the ASL Translation System project with Dr. Li. She has a BE degree in Computer Engineering from a college in China.

Mihir Shah was a graduate student from the Dept. of Electrical & Systems Engineering at University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). He finished his Master study at University of Pennsylvania and was doing summer research intern with City Tech Robotics Lab on project of Aerial ANS System in Summer 2016.

Anthony Colangeli was a student from MIT who was majored in Mechanical Engineering. He did summer research intern in City Tech Robotics Lab and worked the project of Programmable Hetereomorphism Robotics in Summer 2016.

• Tenzing Rabgyal   (Email: tenz99@hotmail.com)

Tenzing Rabgyal was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He worked on the Aerial ANS Project with Dr. Li. Tenzing was a recipient of CUNY Undergraduate Research Scholar program and graduated with honor in January, 2017. He received offers to graduate programs from several top universities including University of Pennsylvania and New York University. In 2019 Tenzing obtained a MS degree in Computer Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Now he works as a Software Engineer at Intel.

Victor Liang was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He was working on the Modular Quadracopter for Distributed Coordination Project with Dr. Li. Victor was on Dean’s List for multiple semesters and was a recipient of City Tech NSF-STEM Scholarship. After leaving City Tech, he obtained a MS degree in Computer Engineering at NYIT in 2018. Now he works as a Firmware Engineer at Advanced Power Technologies, FL.

Jean Delgado was student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He worked on the Aerial ANS Project under Dr. Li’s guidance.

• Philip Bertani  

Philip Bertani was a student in Department of Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He has extensive industrial experience in computer programming. He worked on the Interactive 3D Art Visualization project (a joint project with Dr. Li, Prof. Clarke, and Michael Jason Chin at City Tech EAT Lab).

• Daniel Huljev (Email: danielhuljev@gmail.com)

Daniel Huljev was a student majored in Computer Engineering Technology at City Tech. He worked on the Quadracopter project and took charge of the program development for the rotor control. He is currently a field engineer at Newfield Wireless Inc.

• George Perez  (Email: gperez@citytech.cuny.edu)

George Perez was a student majored in computer engineering technology and worked on the Quadracopter project under Dr. Li’s guidance. He took the main charge of the driver circuit and filter circuit design in the project.  George is a US Army veteran.

• Ivan Gonzalez  (Email: ivanusany@hotmail.com)

Ivan Gonzalez was a student at City Tech and assisted several projects at City Tech Robotics Lab. He obtained a BS degree in Computer Science from Brooklyn College/CUNY in 2016. He worked multiple internship positions in computer programming in NYC HRA and NYC Dept of Probation IT departments.

David Leonard 

David was an undergraduate student from the Dept. of Computer and Electrical Engineering at City College of New York/CUNY. David Leonard worked with Dr. Li on the motor tracking control of the Quadracopter project.

Carlos A. Renoj Paxtor

Carlos Paxtor worked with Dr. Wang on a project to develop a 3D LED Cube Display. Carlos was an undergraduate student from the Dept. of Computer and Electrical Engineering at the City College of New York/CUNY.
